a quick note on prayer

i read something on facebook this morning that really made me sad. this person wrote:
"if you are one of the people saying you are praying for our country, you are part of the problem."

um...
say whaaa?

i'm sure some of you have read my past posts where i mentioned praying. i'm not a bible beater, and i'll never try to force my faith on anyone, but i do pray every single day.

i pray for my family's health. i pray for peace and understanding for the challenges the day will bring or has already brought.

i pray that mike will be safe in his travels, whether it's driving around our city or flying across the country.

i pray for my relationship - for patience when mike does "man things" that frustrate me, for grace to be the best girlfriend i can be, and in thanks when i am reveling in how happy we are together.

i pray to say i'm sorry, to give glory, and to ask questions.

and i absolutely pray for our country. i pray for its future, for its leaders, and for its citizens.

i understand this facebook friend of mine directed her comment to those who were praying because they didn't like the outcome of the election. i simply don't agree with her.

i'll be praying for america today, and i'll be praying for president obama. i'll be praying that last night's "reach across the aisle" rhetoric wasn't just politician-speak. i'll be praying that things will change over the next four years, and that our legislators will be able to positively impact our great nation.

i'd be praying the same thing if mitt romney won, as well.

you don't have to agree with me. i'm not telling you you've got to be religious. it's up to you whether you choose to pray or not, but don't try to tell me prayer is part of the problem, people.

in my experience, it's the one thing that really can make a difference.

  1. Beautifully written, Callie! God and prayer are what this country was built on and that's something that I hold close to my heart. No matter your faith, prayer is always the answer. And I pray for you friend. xoxo
