back in october of 2008, the lovely and wonderful aj-dub decided it was about time to introduce her new boyfriend to two of her closest high school friends - myself and j-day. here's the conversation we had the day before we met for happy hour at EG's:
me: is d-wyp nervous about meeting me and j-day?
aj-dub: why would he be nervous? are you nervous?
me: um, no. but he's meeting two of your closest friends. i'd think that could be a little nerve-wracking. i mean, what if we don't like him?
aj-dub: well, what if he doesn't like you?
me: first of all, that's not going to happen. everyone likes me. second of all, he needs to impress me. you're my best friend.
aj-dub: ya know, there's a chance that if things go well between myself and d-wyp, then he could be around for a very long time. and if he doesn't like you, then i probably won't be able to hang out with you as much...like, he'd want to do things more with other people, and i'd only be able to hang out with you one-on-one.
me: i don't like that at all. he better be awesome, and he'd better like me, or i will throw down.
after a successful first meeting (during which j-day and i grilled d-wyp about his intentions and his true feelings for our beloved aj-dub when she went to the bathroom), i felt confident that my best friend had found herself a winner. after i tasted his homemade chocolate cake, my opinion was confirmed. which is why i'm extremely happy to announce on my little blog...
my best friend is gettin' hitched!
congrats, aj-dub!!!!
just a disclaimer: i found out about this before christmas, but i wasn't allowed to say anything until after she announced it to more people. so, score one for my secret-keeping abilities! and yes, i know it's hard to see the picture of her rock, but just trust me when i say it is gorgeous. d-wyp (the fiance) did a great job...with a little help from the future bride.
knowing how i feel about all things wedding-related, aj-dub graciously invited me to go with her to look at wedding dresses this past monday. i'm truly not an overly emotional person, but there's something about seeing a girl i've known since we were both 11 in a gorgeous wedding dress that evidently brings it out in me. i mean, i've known that aj-dub is beautiful since, well, forever, but she is honestly going to be the most gorgeous bride i've ever seen. i have no clue how she's ever going to choose a dress, because with her six-feet-tall-and-skinny frame, she's built just like the models these dresses were designed to fit, and every one looks perfect on her. then again, maybe i'm just biased.
regardless, congratulations to to the happy couple! i couldn't possibly be more thrilled for both of you, and i am so excited for you to begin this next chapter of your lives together.
