why "be here now"?

{via}

my first blog title (which lasted 4ish years) was "if you're bored then you're boring", thanks to a laughing fit i had when i heard those lyrics in the great ballad "flagpole sitta".

however, when i went through my blog redesign, i decided i wanted to change the name to something more inspirational, more optimistic, less sarcastic - overall, more me. when i created this blog, i used the phrase "be here now" for the web address, so i figured it would be a great "new" name for this little old blog.

so you're probably wondering...
WHAT IS "BE HERE NOW", YOU CRAZY GIRL?

{or at least, i imagine that's what you're thinking. i never said i could read minds.}

basically, it's a reminder to live your life in the present. i'm a firm believer that it does no good to dwell on the past or stress too much about what the future may (or may not!) bring. it does you no favors and brings your face lots of unattractive and unnecessary worry lines.

now, please don't mistake me - i'm not saying i'm an expert at this. i need this reminder as much as the next girl. i am a major worrier, and i regularly beat myself up about decisions i made or how i handled situations in the past.

but it does no good.

{did you hear that?!}

it is impossible to go back and change the way things unfolded previously. you have no way of knowing what will happen in the future. therefore, why worry your pretty little head about things that are so far outside your control?

it's a waste of energy, my friends. and we all know that after balancing work/school, friends, family, significant others, home life, and a million other things, energy is a precious commodity. there is no need to spend what little energy we have remaining on the future or the past.

be in the moment. enjoy what life has to offer every day. breathe.

just
be. here. now.
