sunday social - throwback time!

today i'm linking up with two lovely ladies for sunday social! this week's topic is throwback time. brace yourselves!

1. what were you like in middle/high school?
in middle school, i was a serious overachiever. i was a reporter/anchor on a local kids news tv show, i was a football cheerleader and a wrestling stat, i danced competitively, and i took honors classes. in high school, i was one of the editors of our student newspaper, acted in our school plays, and quit dancing circa sophomore year. i was a wrestling stat again my senior year, because it was fun seeing boys in singlets. go ahead, judge me. i've had the same best friend since 6th grade. i loved passing notes and notebooks back and forth with my friends and i spent a significant amount of time perfecting my flirting skills. i am still an expert winker.

2. what were your favorite pastimes?
dancing, passing notes, checking out boys, going to "teen night" at a local club (so creepy in retrospect), and riding around getting into trouble with my friends.

3. what songs were you obsessed with?
mmmbop. as long as you love me. barbie girl (ah, ah, ah, yeah). anything by sugar ray, third eye blind, or usher. mo money mo problems. basically look back at casey's top 40 from 1995-2002 and those were my JAMS.

4. what fashion statement do you look back on and cringe?
my favorite outfit in middle school was a pair of light-wash denim overall shorts with a black turtleneck, black tights, and silver jewelry. i thought i was stylin'. i thought wrong. also, looking back - shiny shirts? not so great. that time we all went through a skater phase and wore wide-leg jeans and boys' sneakers? prettttty bad.

5. who was your celeb crush?
while all my friends fought over jonathan taylor thomas, i alternated crushes on these two boys:

yep, andrew keegan and zachery ty bryan. both of these pictures may have been hanging on my bedroom door at some point in my adolescence. you're. welcome.

6. what were your favorite tv shows/movies?
tv: anything on TGIF (specifically family matters, full house, and step by step), thunder alley and home improvement (to scope out my dudes, obvi), saved by the bell, hey dude, salute your shorts, my so-called life, party of five, and of course, beverly hills 90210. the original. i always loved steve sanders.
movies: camp nowhere, little big league, the sandlot, little giants, and i developed a strange love for the original scream. i probably watched that movie every night for two weeks straight the year i got it for christmas!

hope ya'll are having a great weekend!

  4. I loooooved Andrew Keegan FYI. Love love love!! And yep, I'm right there with ya on the teen night at the club. We went every weekend to The Zoo (Pittsburgh), Spinners (Wheeling) and The Loft (Follansbee). Sweet names, huh? I can't believe our parents let us drive all the way there to get grinded on by some nasty dudes to the best of Ja Rule.
